Famously painted by Boudin, Monet and Manet the cliffs at Etretat on the northern French coast have long been a big draw for tourists and geologists alike. They are a monumental example of erosion along coastlines.

This view looks north towards England across one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, just north of the port of Le Havre.

Natural forms such as this one leave me with a feeling of awe, not just of its physical presence but also the passage of time written deep into the surfaces.
