Firmly established as an Icon of the London Skyline the “Eye” is seen here recorded over a period of forty minutes. Central to the image is the rising moon. Taken in October 2006 this is what is known as the “Harvest Moon” therefore appearing very large in the sky.
Within the image you can see the clear rotation of the wheel, randomly peppered with flash bulbs from passengers in the pods. Also light trails from passing air and river traffic. The framework also becomes visible as the wheel comes to rest minutes before the exposure was finished.
An exciting snapshot, a brief moment in time, recorded in one frame, its like watching a movie – all the information is there to paint the picture, a true representation of the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
